Match drawn
Despite the beautiful sunny weather today, yesterday’s rain had given the pitch too much of a battering, and the game was called off at 1pm. Ironically, I spent the rain delay paddling in the North Sea (bracing).
Since I had an unexpected afternoon free, I took an earlier train to York and had a lovely catch-up with my old friend Katie, who I’d not seen for more than a year. A lovely end to my holiday!
I doubt this game will go down in history as one of the great Scarborough battles, but I had a lovely time here, thoroughly enjoyed what cricket I was able to see, and I hope to come back to the Scarborough cricket festival next time Durham play here – when there will hopefully be less rain!
